Want a healthy dose of the feels this year? Looking for love but feel you need a bit of Hollywood-spiration? Then you’ll be happy to hear that 2015 has a whole host of romantic films in the pipeline for us, including retelling of fairytale classics through to takes on modern love and all that’s in between. So, if you’re looking for appropriate date films, a way to let out your emotions in the company of people you don’t know, or even if you want to feel sorry for yourself in the dark, you can guarantee that there is something on the big screen for everyone.
Here are the romantic films that you need to keep your eye out for during 2015.
Love, Rosie – February 6 2015
Director – Christian Ditter
Though most of Europe has already had the pleasure of catching this lovely little romance based on Cecelia Ahern’s novel of the same name, it is still set to do the rounds in the new year and it looks like it’s going tobe a surprise hit for the start of 2015. Starring Lily Collins and Sam Claflin, it’s about two best friends who have known each other since they were 5 and if whether or not love could ruin what they have. Oh the choices we have to make some times. This comedy romance also has the possibility to cause a few tears.

Fifty shades of Grey – February 11 2015
Director –Sam Taylor-Johnson
Just in time for Saint Valentine’s Day, one of the most talked about novels this side of the 21st century finally gets unleashed on the big screen, just as the ridiculously handsome Jamie Dornan does as Mr. Grey. Is case you don’t know, E.L. James’ novel tells the story of literature student Anastasia Steele, whose life gets turned upside down when she meets tormented billionaire Christian Grey. Thus ensures a love story that has made women weep with much more than just tears… perhaps it’s the explicitly described hanky panky that’s done it. Well, I’m more than sure that the film is certainly going to give us all something to talk about. (More about Fifty Shades of Grey here)

The Last Five Years – February 13 2015
Director – Richard LaGravenese
If kinky sex isn’t your kind of romance, how about a musical (more movie musicals 2015 here)? Yes, no thing drums up those romantic feelings quite like a song and a dance, which is exactly what you’ll be getting from Anna Kendrick, Meg Hudson and Jeremy Jordan in ‘The Last Five Years’. Originally written by Jason Robert Brown for the stage, Richard LaGravenese has taken it off the pages and made it silver screen worthy for us all. Following the story of a struggling actress and her novelist lover, we are told the story through the eyes of each partner. Cathy’s songs begin at their marriage while Jamie’s begin at the start.

Cinderella – March 12 2015
Director – Kenneth Branagh
Cinderella goes all live action and comes complete with an amazing cast, including Lily James, Helena Bonham Carter, Hayley Atwell, Cate Blanchett and Richard Madden, to name but a few. We all know the story but with Kenneth Branagh behind the camera, you all know that this is going to be one interpretation to remember.

A Little Chaos – March 26 2015
Director – Alan Rickman
17-years since Alan Rickman directed his first and only film ‘The Winter Guest’ (1997) but now he’s back with ‘A Little Chaos’ and making the landscape-gardening sexier than ever. Alan Rickman both directs and stars in the film, along with Kate Winslet, Stanley Tucci and Matthias Schoenaerts, and it tells the tale of a female landscape-gardener, Sabine, who is offered the privilege of constructing the grand gardens at Versailles. She is thrown into the world of money and opulence like she has never seen before but luckily she is made of strong stuff. But how will these ne challenges play out? And what of the rivalry? With sweeping scenery and incredible costumes, this is a feast for the eyes just as much as it is for the heart.

The Longest Ride – April 9 2015
Director – George Tillman Jr.
It’s been a while since we’ve had a film featuring a contemporary cowboy-ish love interest, but that’s exactly what we get from Scott Eastwood’s character Luke Collins, who falls for Sophia Danko, played by Britt Robertson. If you like your Romeo&Juliet you’re sure to live this tale of star-crossed lovers, when a former bull-riding champion falls for a college student. When they meet a man named Ira, the pair are inspired by the story of how he and his wife stayed together through thick and thin. Tissues at the ready guys. It’s based on Nicholas Sparks hit book and is without a doubt going to be a hit on the big screen, too.

The Age of Adaline – April 16 2015
Director – Lee Toland Krieger
Blake Lively, Harrison Ford and Michiel Huisman star in a story about a woman who hasn’t a day over 27, leading her to live in solitude in order to keep her secret under wraps. Of course, all of this goes to hell when she meets the man of her dreams Ellis Jones, played by Michiel Huisman, who reminds her that life is worth living. Of course, this can lead to only one thing, she has to let someone into her life and, further more, let someone learn her secret. But how will it end? I have NO idea. Another weepy one guys. If you want to console your lovers through tears, this one is for you… or if you want to watch something that will help you get a whole lot of pent up emotions out, get your eyes on this.

Paper Towns – July 24 2015
Director – Jake Schreier
Model Cara Delevingne stars as Margo Roth Spiegelman in a film that tells the story of Quentin and his four friends, as the embark on a road trip in order to find the missing girl from next door. This romance comedy is all about Quentin’s endeavours to find Margot after she disappears but has seemingly left clues for Quentin. This film is perfect for those who are looking for a ark of love without it being soppy and a bit soppy.

Far from the Maddening Crowd – May 1 2015
Director – Thomas Vinterberg
David Nichols and director Thomas Vinterbeg rework Thomas Hardy’s wonderful novel for the screen, pitting men against each other after they fall for the charms of the same woman, Bathsheba Everdene played by Carey Mulligan. Her three suitors are played by Michael Sheen, Matthias Schoenaerts and Tom Sturridge, and the film also stars Juno Temple and Jessica Barden. This adored story reveals the passions and choices made by Bathsheba as she explores the notions of love, sex and relationships. One of my favourite novels. I can’t wait to see this hit the big screen.

Me Before You – TBC 2015
Director – Thea Sharrock
Game of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke stars in the big screen adaptation of Jojo Moyes hugely successful novel, which also stars Hunger Games’ Sam Claflin. It tells the story of a small town girl who forms a bond with a recently paralyzed man that she is taking care of. Essentially this book is about two who truly listen to each other and understand each other’s needs and wants. Though this film has not yet been given a release date it is sure to rack up some anticipation later on this year, thanks to the franchises that both its stars are attached to.
